Cooking folded tortillas seam side down keeps fillings from oozing out when turning the tortillas and cooks both tortilla sides․ I fry folded cheeseburger crunch wraps in a pan to make crispy tortillas with melted cheese around the patty and well-formed folds․

Prepare patty and tortilla ingredients to allow enough space around the edges of the tortilla to fold around the patty․ Position the patty and toppings at the bottom of the tortilla․ Fully wrap the patty and toppings in the tortilla‚ overlapping edges as needed‚ regardless of how attractive the final product looks․ A flat tortilla is more convenient for customers to eat․
Cheddar cheese‚ ketchup‚ and yellow mustard are included in the wrap․ Thinly sliced dill pickles and red onion are provided with shredded lettuce on the hot meat patty․ A tostada can be added for crunch in the center of the wrap․ Most of the time‚ I don't include a tostada but provide other crunchy options such as french fries and chips․
I suggest the skillet method for this recipe and wipe it clean after cooking burgers to avoid putting the wrap on a greasy skillet surface․ This dish can also be cooked in an air fryer․ Place the wrap carefully in the basket folded-side down and flip halfway through cooking․

Why you'll love this recipe
- Cooking the patties in advance helps the tortillas brown in a skillet․
- Cleaning the pan between batches keeps beef from contaminating fresh tortilla chips․
- Medium-low heat browns the outside of the food without overcooking the inside․
- When cooking in an air fryer‚ flip food carefully halfway through cooking to cook the side that wasn't cooked before․
- American or cheddar cheese warms over the patty‚ and lettuce is wrapped in a tortilla․
- The ketchup and mustard are caught in the folds and don't touch the frying pan․
